Experienced Climber — General Tree Work
Qualifications:
- A total of one year experience working on a tree trimming crew as a climber. We are willing to discuss this.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (non-negotiable).
- Must have valid first aid certification or be able to get it.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of all knots, ropes and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations. Or able to learn this.
- Must know and understand all approved operating procedures that apply to the climber job description.
- Must be familiar with electrical hazards, appropriate operating procedure when in proximity to electrical conductors and aerial rescue techniques in the event of an emergency aloft.
- Must be able to work and maneuver at considerable heights under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Must possess physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
- Must be able to (or be trained to) climb and descend trees using rope and safety saddle; to learn, administer and implement emergency rescue, techniques, including tree rescue and all applicable first aid techniques.
- Must be able to quickly remove him/herself from a potential danger area.
- Must be willing and able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 60 days of start date.
Responsibilities
- Trim or removes tree by climbing or with the aid of an aerial lift device but only under the direct supervision of a crew leader or qualified climber.
- Loads and unloads trucks with logs, brush and debris often weighing 75 lbs. Or more; lifts and feeds brush into brush chipper.
- Works from the ground using hand saws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers and gas-powered chain saws.
- Drives trucks or operates other equipment as assigned.
- Responsible for the inspection and proper working condition of all tools and equipment assigned to him or her.
- Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices.
PHC Technician
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must pass company driving test.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain first aid certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain pesticide applicator certification.
- Must have proven experience in tree identification and a strong ability in pest and disease diagnosis.
- Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform moderately strenuous tasks while wearing a respirator.
- Must be able to mix, load and apply pesticides and fertilizers.
- Must be able to efficiently and accurately keep written records of all activities related to the ordering, storage, mixing, transporting and application of pesticides.
Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads spray hose, 5 gallon pesticide cans, 50 lbs. Fertilizer, etc. May have to drag up to 300 ft. of spray hose.
- Uses spray gun, fertilization equipment, back-pack sprayers, hand sprayers and related equipment.
- Keeps work area pick up and orderly. May have to cover pools, birdbaths, flower beds, sand boxes or sensitive areas before spraying. May have to rinse off cars, houses, plants or other contaminated objects after spraying.
- Carries, lays out and stows other materials, tools and equipment at work site.
- Drives or operates trucks and other equipment as assigned.
- Services trucks and equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat andorderly fashion. Reports the need for repairs to truck and equipment to crew leader.
- Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
